First Grade Visual Art
In First Grade, students continue their education in the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Students learn through lessons primarily about art history, and focus on artists such as Andy Warhol, Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Wayne Thiebaud, Roy Lichtenstein and Chuck Close.
Students work in a variety of mediums- clay, watercolor and tempera paint, printmaking, oil pastels, and paper collage- and are expected to have experimentation and risk taking be a part of the creative process.
